Biography
Luca Palmas, better known as Waveback, was born in Sassari, Italy, in 1991. His first
encounter with music came at the age of six, but it was only years later, at age 14, that
his first experiences in clubs reignited that spark and his love for music.
Fascinated by nightlife and electronic sounds, he began experimenting with music
production using early versions of FL Studio. Entirely self-taught, he spent the following
years refining his skills and developing a sound of his own.
Between 2005 and 2012, he released music under various aliases, using each project
to sharpen his identity as a producer. In 2012, he adopted the name Waveback Luke
and began focusing on minimal and melodic techno, heavily inspired by his mentor,
Boris Brejcha.
In 2014, Brejcha personally invited him to remix one of his most iconic tracks,
Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven. Although the remix was never released, the
experience pushed Luca to raise the bar on his productions.
That same year, he released his first breakthrough single, Energize, which gained
international traction and was supported by DJs across clubs and festivals worldwide.
The track opened the door to three international tours that took him to Brazil (São
Paulo, Curitiba, Brusque, Balneário Camboriú, and more), as well as Australia (Sydney,
Melbourne, Coffs Harbour), Sri Lanka (Colombo), and Egypt (Cairo).
In 2017, he shortened his stage name to Waveback, marking a new chapter in both
sound and artistic vision.
